The garden of love

In a beautiful garden, a noble, fashionably dressed group enjoys music and each other's company. The Garden of Love is one of the masterpieces of the Rubens' graphic arts. The print is derived from a famous painting by Peter Paul Rubens that is now hanging in the Prado in Madrid. Christoffel Jegher made the woodcut to the design of the baroque master. From 1625, Jegher worked in the Moretus family publishing company. Peter Paul Rubens probably met him here for the first time.

The voyage of the cardinal-infante Ferdinand from Barcelona to Genoa

Neptune, in his chariot with sea nymphs, drives the north wind Boreas away. A war fleet is sailing in the distance. This etching was made by Theodoor Van Thulden after a design by Peter Paul Rubens. The original painting decorated the welcome arch during the triumphal entry of Ferdinand of Austria into Antwerp. Ferdinand, designated by the king of Spain as governor of the Netherlands, makes his Joyful Entry on 17 April 1635.
